What is A Village

If you had the choice, chances are you would choose to remain in your home as you grow older. You would probably say that your goal is to remain active, enjoy social interactions and be able to feel as though you are an integral part of your community. You deserve to age with dignity and self-determination while surrounded by a caring community. Village Encinitas provides a path to just that!

We know that as we age some simple tasks can become overwhelming and, at times, dangerous. Good judgement will tell us when activities like driving, changing a smoke alarm battery or a light bulb, or moving furniture cannot be completed safely. We need a community where we feel comfortable asking for help as well as helping. A Village is a network of neighbors helping neighbors. Modeled after the first Village in Beacon Hill Boston, community members across the country have been joining together to provide the help needed so that we are able to remain independent, and in our homes, as we age.

Beacon Hill Village began in 1999 and now there are more than 350 Villages open or in development around the United States. Our Village Encinitas is an all-volunteer, not for profit network of residents dedicated to helping one another remain in our homes and stay connected with our beautiful community as we grow older. We are a member-led community of active, creative and independent adults who are meeting the needs of those in our neighborhoods. Village Encinitas is modeled on the premise that everyone is a valued member of our organization. Becoming a member of Village Encinitas is a great way to plan for your future and receive both the support that you need and the connections that you can count on.
